It was a tuesday morning !
Navin Pai , GS of CURSOR council contacted me informing me about a tech fest at goa university .He said I had to take part in two events FLIP FLOP and COUNTER PUNCH !
Flip Flop was ex-tempo speaking and counter punch was a debate !
Initially ,I thought "Oh ! God will I make it ?"
Even though i had taken part in loads of competitions in skool and had won each one !! I wasn't sure of myself and that was irking me ... I didn't give it a thought , just attended the lectures and finally the day came where TEAM CURSOR had to leave for the "INFOFEST-2011".
The first day i had to take part In COunter PUnch (Debate) and flip flop.
At 11.30am was round 1 of Debate wherein we had to write an Essay .The topic was Can computers replace the human brain in the near future ?
I remember writing something onto that piece of paper , It went onto ask the reader a question "Would you ever like to be married to a person whose brain was a computer ?"
I'm sure the judges didn't stress much on such a humor else we wudn't be qualified !!!
at 2.20pm began Flip flop , with my pulse soaring to 144 instead of the normal 72 ...
I was 8th in the row and had so much of pressure, it wasn't something for me , it was for my team .I got such a weak topic , it was whether "Paperless office is a mirage or Paperless office isn't a mirage.Can technical gadgets replace paper and pen?"
For a moment i THOUGHT I would change the topic but then for that there was a penalty of -2 points.
I gathered all the courage in this universe ,I coined a few points and finally ended with the blabber.I knew it wasn't upto the mark !
I realised I was so weak in putting forth what i wanted to say.
The results were to be announced the 3rd day !!
Day 2 Begins :
We had got a call from the event co-ordinators that we had got into round 2 of debate .
I thought to myself we had to make it !!
Mallika Kamat , Our magazine secretary and a good friend of mine was my team mate.
I certainly knew She would do well but what about me ???
I had no clue of myself.I wasn't nervous , 4 teams got qualified

I thot of the middle teams to be good opponents , especially GU-MBA.They seemed to be pretty strong ,but as the debate progressed they seemed to have wrong facts to their credit ,had loads of attitude and certainly a big head !!!
The Debate went off well.We went ahead to talk about entrepreneurship as a key factor for the growth of IT in India.Did pretty well !!!
I was happy coz all my team mates seemed to be giving me a grin . I felt proud .I had managed to impress the judges and talked the about key points .
Debate ended !!! and the judges personally walked to me and Mallika and said "Congrats !! You guys did a good job ". I was flattered thinking if we were winning or would be second !!
results were to be out on the closing ceremony and yeah we won !!!
That was such a good feeling winning something for your TEAM , our TEAM , TEAM CURSOR !!!
